It Is The Gift Of God
October 30th, 2007Categories: God's VIEWS
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and not that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast.
Ephesians 2: 8–9
I truly believe that salvation is a gift from God. The two most important words in that beautiful passage from God’s word is grace and faith. You see grace is God’s part, and faith is our part. Grace can be described as the unmerited favor of God. What about faith? What is faith? How do we get this faith?
What is Faith?
Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1
How do we obtain this Faith?
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
Romans 10:17
I believe that faith is our response to the gift of God. Paul emphasizes throughout his letter to the Romans that it is obedient faith, faith in obedience to God’s will that we are able to appropriately accept this free gift of God. Faith in order to be a saving faith, includes within itself the obedience of that which God asks of us.
But someone may well argue, “You say the way to God is by faith alone, plus nothing, well, I say that good works are important too, for without good works you can’t prove whether you have faith or not; but anyone can see that I have faith by the way I act.”
James 2:18
Are you ready to receive the free gift of God? Have you received that gift by obeying ALL that God has asked of you? Do you exemplify Christ in your life day by day?
Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
Matthew 5:16
