We too live in a rural area with basically no children in our area for the kids to play with, so church would be the only place outside of school, except of course when we get to gether with friends. We too live in a rural area with basically no children in our area for the kids to play with, so church would be the only place outside of school, except of course when we get to gether with friends. As a SAHM I feel like I already do home school our 2 and 4 year old on a daily basis, I think I could continue to do it...but then again we live in such a small rural community as it is, church and school are the ONLY times our kids would really see any other children unless we drove them several miles for play dates. I am so glad that Home Shooling has had such a positive impact on your children. I agree that the peer group socializing is sometimes negative, and this scares me to death as a parent. With as much encouragement as my wife and I can give, we encourage choosing the right freinds to hang out with. Our oldest child is about to turn 11, so this has not been a big issue yet....but it is coming I am sure. The thing with Home Schooling in a small rural area is the lack of social activities in my opinion. I hear of groups of Home Shooler's getting together for activities, and I now hear that they have their own sports leagues.
