Green bean lovers are invited to the 1st Green Bean Festival in Downtown Blairsville on July 30th and 31st. Activities will be on Town Square, at the Union County Civic Center, the Union County Canning Plant, and the Mountain Life Museum. Shuttle service between locations will be provided on Saturday, July 31.

Horsin Around BBQ Showdown
When: May 29th – May 30th, 2010
Where: The Brasstown Valley Resort Stables
Join us at The Brasstown Valley Resort Stables on Saturday May the 29th and Sunday May the 30th from 11:00am until 5:00pm for our 3rd Annual Horsin Around BBQ Showdown. Our contestants come from across the state of Georgia and beyond to compete for Cash, Prizes, Trophies and Ribbons in this KCBS Sanctioned Event. The KCBS, Kansas City Barbeque Society is the largest international organization of barbeque and grilling enthusiasts around.
Featured at The Showdown this year will also be: The Blairsville Cruisers Car Show, The All American Arts and Crafts Festival with crafter’s demonstrating their work throughout the day. Come out and see crafters working such as a Blacksmith, a Soap Maker, Wood Carver, Weaver, Potter and more.

Memorial Day Parade
When: Saturday May 29th, 2010 at 10:00 A.M.
Where: Downtown Blairsville on the Square
The Memorial Day Parade starts at 10:00am and will follow the usual parade route winding around the old courthouse and ending at the Union County War Memorial where ceremonies will begin at 11:15am.
Theme for parade is “Remembrance of American War Dead”

Join us in celebration of the arts! The Downtown Blairsville Spring Arts and Crafts Festival is scheduled in late Spring to take advantage of North Georgia’s excellent weather.
Mark your calendars for two days of art exhibits, crafts, entertainment, and good food. Over 50 artists and craftsmen set up exhibits around the square. Everything from paintings to jewelry to pottery is available for purchase. Food vendors include hamburgers and festival type goodies.
The entertainment lineup includes performances by the Blairsville School of Dance, classical musicians, bluegrass musicians, and barbershop quartets. Who knows? You might even hear some jazz, blues, and rock!

Where: Horseshoe Bend Park on the Banks of the Toccoa River
Pickin’ in Horseshoe Bend Park – every Thursday, 6:00 PM to dusk. Live music jams and pickin’ on the banks of the Toccoa River at the Horseshoe Bend Park in McCaysville. Free Admission. And the park is wheelchair accessible. Come out, bring the whole family to enjoy the experience. Picnic tables available, nice grassy lawn but you are also welcome to bring a blanket or chair.

Where: Brother’s at Willow Ranch Restaurant

Blairsville’s Mountain Fair

This is the second year for the Blairsville Kiwanis Mountain Fair and it is sure to be a huge success! In addition to the Great Rides provided by Midway, and the Fabulous Food from some of our local vendors, The Kiwanis have planned some very exciting events. A Cornhole Tournament, Bluegrass Concerts, Clogging, Square Dancing, a Homerun Derby, and if that isn’t enough, this year they will be having Lawn Tractor Pulling on Saturday and Lawn Tractor Racing on Sunday…..and it is FREE to the public. Wow! Mark your calendars and head on up to the North Georgia Mountains of Blairsville, GA.
