Bring your instruments and participate in these weekly jam sessions along the river…or come listen, grill-out and dance!

32nd Annual Arts In The Park In Blue Ridge Georgia

Memorial Day Weekend RAIN or SHINE, May 24th and 25th Downtown City Park, Blue Ridge, Georgia.
Bring your family and friends to the 32nd annual Arts in the Park Festival. Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, the historic town of Blue Ridge, Georgia, hosts over 10,000 people for this event. Traditionally held on Memorial Day weekend, this festival features more than 150 fine arts, crafts and food booths. There are activities for children, artists’ demonstrations and special art exhibits inside the historic county courthouse adjacent to the park.
Make this a great Memorial Day weekend by sharing it with us here in the North Georgia Mountains. Come spend a few days and see our picturesque Lake Blue Ridge, hike part of the Appalachian Trail or Benton MacKaye Trail system, both of which start in Fannin County, or take a ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway. MDA Jerry’s Kid’s Benefit Ride Hosted By The Copperhead Lodge

ERA Three Rivers Realty are sponsoring a Mountain Ride to benefit MDA Jerry’s Kid’s.
Registration begins at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday May 17th at ERA Three Rivers Sales Office, and the Ride begins at 10:00 A.M.
The Ride will be Police Escorted to the Copperhead Lodge in Blairsville, GA. The Copperhead Lodge is a 40 Acre Biker’s Dream in the North Georgia Mountains. It is a resort built by motorcycle enthusiasts…for motorcycle enthusiasts. If you love to ride, then you love the mountains, and you are going to love the Copperhead Lodge. Please visit them on your next ride!
Georgia’s very own Amanda Lynn will be in concert at the Copperhead Lodge’s Outdoor Amphitheater on Saturday May, 3rd. The concert should start sometime around high noon.
After the concert, the ride will continue back to Ellijay for an end of the ride celebration at the River’s Edge Restaurant in Ellijay, GA.
This should be a great event, and it is certainly for a very good cause. Come on out and support MDA Jerry’s Kid’s, ERA Three Rivers, Mountain Country 103.9 FM, The Copperhead Lodge, Amanda Lynn, and the River’s Edge Restaurant.

The Tour de Georgia returns to Blairsville/Union County for the second time as a stage start. Nestled in the heart of the Northeast Georgia Mountains, Union County is a unique blend of modern America that maintains the charm of the legendary Appalachian era. From the mountain peaks to the lakes, along the roadways and wilderness trails, Union County features flowing streams, waterfalls, native animals, spectacular flora and magnificent views of abundant forests. Union County includes the Blue Ridge Mountains crossing through more than half the county’s acreage within the Chattahoochee National Forest. Cyclists from across the Southeast and beyond come to Union County year round to train, while taking in some of Georgia’s most breathtaking views.

Winter Pickin’ at the Blue Ridge Mountain Arts Association

The Blue Ridge Mountain Arts Association in downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia is hosting Winter Pickin’ on Thursday April the 10th, from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
Come, sit back and have some fun while enjoying great music. These are casual drop-in sessions, so if you play a guitar or banjo….you might want to bring it along.
For 30 years, the Blue Ridge Mountain Arts Association (BRMAA) has, through performance, demonstration and education, striven to enhance and preserve the quality and accessibility of the arts in the North Georgia area. The mountains that surround the beautiful area of North Georgia, South East Tennessee and Western North Carolina inspire creativity and BRMAA provides a venue for all the talent enclosed in this mountainous cocoon.
The primary goal of BRMAA has been to enhance and preserve the quality and accessibility of the arts in this region, to honor our rich heritage
of mountain culture, while promoting contemporary multi-cultural arts. While art enriches the lives of our residents, the arts act as a catalyst for economic development in the community. As an organization, the Blue Ridge Mountain Arts Association, endeavors to provide opportunities in the realm of art for personal growth of the individual and the economic growth of our community.
BRMAA is located in the historic courthouse in Blue Ridge, GA, a small town at the gateway to the . BRMAA complements a vigorous downtown business area that focuses on the arts. Being only 90 minutes from downtown Atlanta has created a catalyst for vigorous growth in this area. Maintaining the eclectic artsy community is a challenge and is managed well by our Business Association, many of which are ardent supporters of BRMAA.

You will want to be there Friday Night for the Wanna Be a Rockstar Contest. Saturday the Cook-Out starts at noon with the Live Music starting at 2:00 P.M. and goes on ALL day! You will also not want to miss this ride being hosted by the good folks out at the Copperhead Lodge in Blairsville Georgia and the Lake Blue Ridge Chapter 380 of the Southern Cruisers Riding Club on Sunday the 6th. Come on out and Kick-Off the 2008 riding season with a lot of Fun and Goodtimes.

In the spring of 1998, the first Blue Ridge Mountain Adventure Race started as Georgia’s first adventure race. Nine years later the race continues to be a favorite of racers throughout the southeast. Teams look forward to a new adventure welcoming spring to Georgia’s Blue Ridge Mountains.
Organizers of the Tenth Annual Blue Ridge Mountain Adventure Race on April 12, 2008, promise a challenging contest with lots of surprises and some of the most stunning scenery anywhere — plus the famous Blue Ridge hospitality racers have come to expect and enjoy.
So get your team ready to run, paddle, mountain bike and navigate in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains. Up to 100 co-ed teams of three (plus one support person) will run along the forested trails of the Chattahoochee National Forest, paddle on the Toccoa River and/or Lake Blue Ridge, mountain bike steep trails and complete mystery challenges along the way. Although the course changes from year to year, the finish line is still in downtown Blue Ridge City Park, with live music, food and relaxing fun. We also have a wildlife deer exhibit with “Donner” our deer. Included with this fantastic visit with the pets at our Plantation is the permanent barnyard maze just waiting for you to get lost and then find your way out.

Looking for a challenge?… Well get ready to be completely puzzled by this brand new, more difficult, permanent wooden barnyard maze. How fast can you master this involved maze??? After all getting lost is as much fun as finding your way through this maze. A permanent wooden barnyard maze, where getting lost means finding fun. Maze madness will be upon you once you have found your way through. Yippee, we found our way out of the maze!
TRAIN RIDES
All aboard the Southern Tree Express. We invite you and your family for some fun riding experience on our brand new miniature train. The train runs on a road track and is just the right speed for youngsters. Chug-chug-choo-choo off we go. Hometown Halloween On The Square

Fall is one of my absolute favorite times of the year.
Football, Festivals, Colorful Leaves and….Oh yes, Candy! Boy do I mean candy, and lots of it. I mentioned in a previous post about the Halloween Safe Zone over the mountain in Blue Ridge Georgia sponsored by the Blue Ridge Business Association. Well I didn’t know that Blairsville also had a similar event, but they do.
Hometown Halloween on the Square will be on Wednesday, October 31st.
Festivities will begin around 6:00 and last ‘til either the candy is gone or 8:00, which ever comes first.
This event is sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority and the Union County Historical Society. This years event will consist of costume contests, storytelling, children’s games, lots of activities and I am sure a whole bunch of fun! Read the rest of this entry »

All aboard the Southern Tree Express. We invite you and your family for some fun riding experience on our brand new miniature train. The train runs on a road track and is just the right speed for youngsters. Chug-chug-choo-choo off we go. Just sit back and relax as you will enjoy the beautiful scenery as this little train takes you around the plantation.
For the younger buckaroos, we have fun in the form of our quiet loveable ponies. Each one with it’s own personality and just waiting to accommodate our little riders. They look forward to meeting you just to have some fun as you pretend to be a real cowboys and girls.
Tell a few tales while roasting those yummy marshmallows over our open fire pit. The fun won’t stop then either! We’ll enjoy watching the flicker of the fire and perhaps even break out into song or two.
