WARNING! Level 4 Drought Has All North Georgia Concerned!
October 19th, 2007Categories: North Georgia Community reVIEWS, North Georgia Real Estate VIEWS
No Drinking water? That’s what everyone is talking about now. In my opinion, it is a nice change from all the recent hype of the November 6th vote
on the proposed liquor by the drink ordinance within Fannin County. However, due to the worsening drought conditions, the Georgia EPD has declared a Level 4 drought for most of the northern state of Georgia. This has banned all types of residential outdoor water use.
“The drought of 2007 has reached historic proportions, so it’s critical that we take immediate action to ensure Georgians have a sufficent supply of safe drinking water,” said EPD director Carol A. Couch.
What has this done for homeowners on Lake Nottely, Lake Blue Ridge, and Lake Chatuge? Well, it has made them very concerned. I have a home on Lake Nottely, and our lake levels never even came close to being full this year. Many of our neighbors docks never even made it to the water this year. The Tennessee Valley Authority has stated that these extended drought conditions across the Tennessee Valley has caused many of the tributary reservoirs on the Tennessee River System to stay well below their targeted levels. Some have long since reached winter levels and many more are averaging 23 feet below normal. Read the rest of this entry »

Halloween Safe Zone: An Annual Smalltown Celebration!
October 18th, 2007Categories: Blue Ridge Georgia Real Estate reVIEWS, North Georgia Community reVIEWS, North Georgia To-Do reVIEWS
The Traditional Halloween Safe Zone in downtown Blue Ridge Georgia is coming upon us fast. The Blue Ridge Business Association is holding its
annual festival this year on Halloween, October the 31st. All the festivities begin around 5:00 P.M. It’s fun for the whole family and truly a sight to see!
Folks come from all over to enjoy our annual Halloween Celebration filled with lots of small town charm.
The downtown shops stay open late and local merchants fill the sidewalks to pass out candy and to show their support of our children’s safety. This isn’t fun for just the little ones, old alike come dressed poised to win top prize in the costume contests. There are usually vendors selling light up toys, and special Halloween treats which always seems to catch my children’s eye. You will find your local civic organizations such as the Blue Ridge Rotary Club as well as The Blue Ridge
Kiwanis Club. Also everyone from local Home Supply stores to area Real Estate Agents, Dentists to Doctors. It is an amazing event held within our community and just gets bigger with every passing year.
One of this years new comers to the festival is Keller Williams Realty Blue Ridge. Keller Williams is very proud and excited to be apart of this family fun community event. They have decided to do something a little special for the children this year. Keller Williams is holding a coloring contest for children ages 1–12. The junior division will be from ages 1–5 for both the boys and the girls. First place junior division winner will receive a Leap Frog Learning Game. This will be given to the girl or boy with the best coloring page. The senior division will be from ages 6–12 and Keller Williams will reward one boy and one girl with a hand held Nintendo DS Game System. Please print the entry form and coloring sheet from the file attached below. All entries must be received no later than Halloween Night at the Keller Williams Realty Blue Ridge booth in downtown Blue Ridge. All contest winners will be announced on Tuesday, November 6th and notified by mail. We encourage all kids, and grown ups too, to come on out Halloween Night and enjoy some good fashioned fun! You just never know who you might see…..really you may never know!

Are You Seeing What I am Seeing?

Not Your Ordinary “Friday Night Lights”
Tonight is the BIG night, the BIG rivalry between Fannin County High School and Union County High School. Now the reason this isn’t ordinary is two-fold, and for once I can’t decide which side of the fence I am on.
The first reason it isn’t ordinary is because I was raised in Blue Ridge, which is the county seat of Fannin County. My wife and I have lived for fourteen years in Blairsville, which is the county seat of Union County. Blue Ridge and Blairsville are only 15 miles down the road from one another. I have worked primarily in Blue Ridge up until the last several months. With the Real Estate market shifting into a Buyer’s Market, Read the rest of this entry »
